India is a country with a huge population of around 132 crores, where we can find the people with various lifestyles, mindsets etc. We can find roughly around 30 to 35% of the population in India with an age limit of 18 to 35. It is also the age limit in which we can have much of mood swings and might feel depressed for some unusual things that takes place in our life.

What is Depression?

Depression is a condition which makes a person feel very low or sad over a longer period of time on behalf of particular incidents or situations they are facing through their life. It can also make one to feel stressed and lose their hopes about the life and often results in an unusual behavior of a person and higher chances of getting negative thoughts in their mind. During the period of depression, a person may feel extremely dejected and has a feelings of inadequacy or low self-esteem.

Causes and Consequences

A person can fall into depression due to various reasons i.e. if one has an exposure to some stressful event during some stage of their life and also the environmental factors such as death of a family members or a person they are closely attached to can drive their minds to a depression stage. Some peoples will have their personality traits which make them feel more susceptible to depression and these people will view themselves as a losers and have a negative attitude towards themselves.

One can also feel depressed due to the changes in an activity of certain chemicals that are associated with brain. They spend most of their time by staying alone without indulging in much of activities with people and experiences continuous fatigue and tiredness, loss of appetite, loses their interest to perform any of the activities due to less concentration, guilty feelings of worthlessness and helplessness. There is also a chances of getting suicidal thoughts sometimes culminating in suicide attempts.

Key Factors to Feel Buoyant and Optimistic

Depression can affect one’s day to day functions and decrease their efficiency. So, before it takes over one’s life completely they need to find the right way to overcome it. The main thing to overcome depression is, one has to remove the negative thoughts towards themselves. Developing a habit of doing exercise can improve not only physical health, but also the mental health with some relief to the mind.

One can keep themselves motivated by setting a goals which can give some sense of accomplishment. So, it makes them feel cheerful by watching their progress towards success and also motivates one to concentrate and work harder to achieve their goals. The major mistake most of them do is that, they start comparing their progress with other peoples which can make them feel unmotivated. Even if a person come across a failure, they need to develop a positive attitude of getting things corrected rather than feeling hatred about themselves.

Having a good sleep can make one feel fresh and relaxed, which helps in overcoming the distractions and one should keep a balance with not too little and not too much of sleep. Staying awake at late nights for one day and then sleeping in excessively the next day is surely a fire way to feed the depression. So, create a proper schedule for sleep and strengthen the mental illness.

One bad day cannot decide the future, so stay motivated without having negative thoughts in the mind and keep focused on your goals.
